Trick-or-Treat: Tilden’s Halloween Potluck

Imagine this: You are all dressed up for Halloween and have a plate of homemade cookies all ready to share with your friends and teachers. You walk into the study hall room. Robin Hood, Snow White, and even Gandalf stand before you, all happily chatting and enjoying the delicious food.

That was the scene on Thursday, October 31st at Tilden. We had a blast trying out the wonderful dishes that people brought. Also, all of the costumes were amazing! We hope you had as great of a Halloween as we did! Trick-or-Treat!

Lots of food items (including plenty of vegan and gluten-free), and quite the crowd!

Rosie the Riveter, a flower child, a cowboy, a wizard, and Katniss at Hogwarts. What will our students and faculty come up with next?

I spy with my little eye... a spy, the Madhatter, Snow White, Karl Friedrich Gauss, and the Joker (goofing off, of course).

Student Donates… Self

Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013

A student attempted to donate herself to charity last Tuesday, and managed to, with the help of friends, stick herself in the Alameda County Community Food Bank donation barrel. Students and teachers are reminded that the drive is open only until mid-December. All non-perishable food donations are welcome. Donations of canned foods are recommended, and even a small donation helps! Donations go to hungry people that cannot afford to feed themselves and/or family. Our goal is to fill both barrels by mid-December. Don’t forget to bring something from home!

What is a Tardigrade? + Illustration Contest

Tilden Tardigrades

As you may know, the recently elected Tilden Times blog mascot is the tardigrade. A tardigrade is an eight-legged micro-animal that can survive almost anything, including doses of radiation lethal to humans, temperatures ranging from boiling to absolute zero, and the vacuum and zero gravity of space. Go Tilden Times Tardigrades! Yeah. Anyway, Tilden Times is holding an illustration contest for an official mascot image. Students from both campuses may submit drawings to lindseyrj@tildenprep.com or to the front desk of either campus. The winner of the contest will receive a $10 gift card to a cafe of their choice. Have fun, and good luck!

Blog Mascot: Final Round of Voting in Progress!

The word is all around Tilden today that the mascot final voting round is on! Our offices plan to keep the polls open through Thursday and will make the big announcement this Friday. The mascot candidates have been whittled down to four finalists: Tilden Tardigrade, Tilden Owl, Tilden Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Tilden Tilde (or would it be Tilden ~ ?). Ballots are available in the main office. Each voter is allowed to cast only one vote, compared with four in the semifinals. The winner will be the mascot of the Tilden Times for at least the rest of the school year, so vote carefully!
